- Part 1 (00-29:38 minutes). Leida Snow interviews on phone Don [Donald] Pippin, musical director and vocal arranger of the upcoming 1993 Broadway production of the musical "The red shoes" with a book by Marsha Norman, lyrics by Norman and Bob Merrill (credited as Paul Stryker) and music by Jule Styne, during the fall preparation for the show. (It opened on Broadway, December 1993). Based on Powell and Pressburger's film, it tells the tale of a young ballerina who performs in an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story. Pippin talks about the changes in the cast of the show. He also speaks about his career as a conductor and songwriter; and about his personal and professional relationships with his friend and colleague Jerry Herman, American composer and lyricist.
- Part 1 (29:40-43:45 minutes). Snow interviews on phone Jerry Herman, who talks about his professional collaboration with Donald Pippin.
- Part 1 (43:48-62:45 minutes) and Part 2. Snow continues her interview with Donald Pippin at the Gershwin Theatre during rehearsal of the musical "The red shoes." Pippin discusses his experience working with Jule Styne, the composer of the musical, and sings excerpts from the songs of the show with piano self-accompaniment.
