  • "This edition was completed during the January thaw of 2015 in our print shop in the Pierce Arrow Building, St. Louis, and is the work of Ken Botnick, editor, author, designer, printer and publisher. Over 220 press runs used 8 pounds of black, silver, gold, and transparent inks. Illustrations, with one exception, are from the original Encyclopedia of Diderot, photographed by KB in Olin Library Special Collections at Washington University. The exception is the portrait bust of Diderot by Jean Antoine Houdon, 1773, which served as the basis of a number of collages. Papers used are Hahnemühle Bugra, black; Moriki, black and gray; Okawara, natural; Zerkall Book; and UV Ultra Clearfold. Three watermarked sheets designed by KB were made by master papermaker Paul Wong at Dieu Donné Paper in New York. Cover paper is Degener Black, an indigo and walnut dyed flax paper made by Cave Paper in Minneapolis. This edition is bound by Daniel Kelm at the Wide Awake Garage, Easthampton, Massachusetts. All texts from the Encyclopedia are set in Walbaum Book ... Selections from contemporary writers are set in various weights and styles of Trade Gothic"--Colophon.
