  • [Cambodian dance school], Photos 1-9: Female dancers of various ages practicing at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The dancers, students of the training program for the Royal Cambodian National Dance Company, appear in a variety of movements, singly and in groups. They wear brightly colored garments and, in some images, dance with fans.
  • [Cambodian dancers: Siem Reap], Photos 10-15: Female dancers from a small regional classical dance company called the "Royal Ballet" in their nightly performance at a restaurant at Bayon II in Siem Reap, Cambodia. They wear elaborate, brightly colored costumes with gold adornment, flowers in their hair, and gold crowns. The dancers are depicted in performance and in preparation "backstage."
  • [Cambodian dancers: Angkor Wat], Photos 16-35: Two young girls dancing together and also engaged in various confrontational poses with a masked male dancer. The male dancer is dressed for the role of Hanumon (the white monkey). He wears a full mask, a sequined white tunic, and a short "tail" fashioned from a white and gold cloth which hangs down behind him from under a wide, embroidered belt. The young girls, who confront and slay the monkey character in their dance, wear green, sequined costumes and wield spears. The girls are also depicted in preparation for the performance, receiving instruction from a teacher who guides their movements. The dancers perform outside of and around the ancient temples of Angkor Wat. Also in the series is one photographic print depicting a detail of a bas-relief depicting a dancer on one of the temple walls.
  • [Cambodian dancers: Royal Cambodian Ballet], Photos 36-83: Members of the Royal Cambodian Ballet in full costume, dancing around the Angkor Wat temples and at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The dancers are pictured seated, standing, singly, in groups, and in a variety of dance movements. They wear elaborate costumes, crowns, and jewelery. Several images feature a masked male dancer in the role of Hanmumon (the white monkey) confronting the female dancers.
