- 73 lines on 4 sides of folded 4to sheet; a few tears along old folds. pencil annotations suggesting the letter is to Lord Holderness. Autograph letter signed (ALS).
- A letter written by Campbell in response to an "unlucky affair" in which a French frigate attacked a British slave ship resulting in the death of 600 slaves.
