- "Fishers and Plunderers explores the hidden world of exploitation within the global fishing industry. The seas are vastly over-fished, wiith too many vessels and shortages of fish, while profit-driven companies drive down wages, to the extent that young men are trafficked from poor areas onto vessels in virtual slavery. The resultant poverty and debt bonding pushes many towards trafficking drugs and piracy - although the criminality linked to the industry extends far beyond the level of the individual, vessel or fleet. The book provides evidence of these crimes and injustices, and the authors argue for regulations which could protect the rights and livelihoods of fishers across the world."-- Page 4 of Cover
