- Clarke's Parables of Our Joyless Days, which is a collection of his toddling footsteps from Gonzales through his trenchant gaze upon El Tucuche to his indelible footprints at his Legacy House, along which trek, he constantly engages in a perspicacious romance with the phenomenology of things : boy days, school days, love life, group life, dramatics, folk arts, folk ways, marriage, service to community and society building in that order. He documents the stumbles he discerns as a set of lamentations over the lack of seriousness we display at almost every turn, and thereby via his book Clarke prays for a change of our ways that brings humanity into our approach to public life so that in due course we could build a society where we act always with gravity and grace ... page xxxviii.
