- Fourteen New York newspaper and magazine reviews of Violet, music by Jeanine Tesori, lyrics and book by Brian Crawley, based on the short story The Ugliest Pilgrim by Doris Betts. First produced Off-Broadway by Playwrights Horizons in 1997, it was revived for one night only as part of the Encores! Off-Center series July 17, 2013, in a concert version at City Center, 131 West 55th Street, New York, N.Y., starring Sutton Foster as a young woman with a facial scar she hoped could be removed by a faith healer. The musical was later given a full Broadway production with the same star at American Airlines Theatre, 227 West 42nd Street, New York, N.Y., opening April 20, 2014.
- Reviewed at City Center by only two critics: Stephen Holden in The New York Times and by Elisabeth Vincentelli for the online version of New York Post. There are 12 reviews of the Broadway production.
