- Summary
- Lindsay asks David Wallace of New York’s Hudson Theatre for assistance in trying to establish in Springfield an Abraham Lincoln memorial tour: No doubt John Drinkwater has by this time told you of his interview with the famous Negro Lawyer Gibbs of our town. He was almost rushed to Gibbs’ office, immediately on his arrival […] I and several citizens of Springfield are very deeply in earnest about establishing as a national institution the Lincoln Pilgrimage that you took with Drinkwater and our party on your visit here […] There are so many magazine offices now going west, that we are undertaking to persuade them to center here, instead of a nondescript western scatteration. [...] We hope to persuade the magazines to undertake an aggressive pro-Lincoln policy. […] I already have friendly letters on the theme from […] Mc. Clure’s […] St. Nicholas […] The Century […] Collier’s Weekly […] and […] the Macmillan Company […].
