Summary
  • Documentary on the Actors Studio, the workshop for professional actors founded in 1947. The studio's history is discussed, including its roots in the American acting collective of the 1930s, the Group Theatre, and in the acting theories of Konstantin Stanislavsky. Includes excerpts from interviews with a number of the studio's prominent members, and discussion of past members such as longtime artistic director Lee Strasberg, and actors Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.
  • Includes a brief one-act play performed at the Actors Studio in its entirety, Swan song (Lebedinaya Pesnya) by Anton Chekhov, featuring Eli Wallach and Harry Davis. The play was adapted by Anne Jackson, and directed by Frank Corsaro.
