Summary
  • Illustrations: 17 prints : etchings with engraving, aquatint, mezzotint and drypoint, black and white ; full-page (plate marks 46 x 31 cm). Printed on white Hahnemühle Dürer etching paper in the printshop at Wesleyan University on a Charles Brand press; each numbered, signed and dated ("1997/imp. 1998") in pencil and inscribed with title of the corresponding poem. Comprise portrait titled "Baudelaire" and illustrations to the 16 poems included (see Contents, below). "Most of the work on these plates was done during a residency at Penland in North Carolina [in 1997]"--Artist's preface.
  • Title page, translator's and artist's preface, colophon and text of the 16 poems with English translation printed letterpress in Monotype Garamond on a Vandercook printing press at Washington University, St. Louis, on 20 sheets of gray Fabriano Ingres paper. Designed by Botnick in collaboration with the artist.
  • Leaves are numbered on verso in pencil: 1L, 1R, 2L, 2R ... 18L, 18R, 19.
