- Summary
- UNAM researchers discovered thousands of mural fragments buried in the foundations of building 40, next to the Palace of the Columns. In addition, according to research, the fragments were used as rubble in the building fill of a new building around 800 AD. "Memories of the excavations in building 40 of the architectural ensemble of the Palace of the Columns in El Tajin, Veracruz, center of activities of the ruling class in the local Epiclassic (850-1050 AD). The work is dedicated to a set of murals of exceptional artistic value and the information they provide about a time that was putting El Tajin in full political and social transformation. In them the language of the elites of their time, fragments of an ideology and a belief system through which one of the most important civilizations of ancient Mexico was built" (Our translation)--Verso Cover.
