  • Programs (1928 - 1970) for Show boat, music by Jerome Kern, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein 2nd, mainly for significant revivals, tours, and regional productions across the United States, often with Helen Dowdy as Queenie and William C. Smith as Joe. Of note is the original London production with Alberta Hunter as Queenie and Paul Robeson as Joe and a 1929 touring production with the white actress Tess Gardella as Queenie, billed as "Aunt Jemima" and acting in blackface make-up, with Jules Bledsoe as Joe.
