Summary
"Kempinas creates spaces of experience. He creates, as he says, visual instruments, on which the viewer can play, in which he can lose or find himself. He creates them with a cogent, compelling and captivating simplicity. And he creates them with an overwhelming and distinctive aesthetics. For his work TUBE he uses the simplest forms, such as circle, square, rectangle and cylinder; the simplest materials, such as plywood and video tape, and these even restricted in colour to pure black and white. The work is reduced to the essential. But the simpler a work is, the more minimalist its form and appearance, the more diverse and complex are the possible experiences of the viewer."--Preface.
