Summary
Those who have tried to study the commitment of poets, those of 27 in this case, have usually stumbled over the dichotomy of the pure and the impure, a division that, like the form and content, text and context, should be deleted when we approach the relationships between literature and society. To save the theoretical obstacle of considering poems committed as impure, there is no other way than to think historically, think of it not only as a radically historical discourse, but also as an idological discourse, understanding by ideology a decisive instance for the reproduction of the relations of production and exploitation, although without taking into account that the literature tends to contradict the dominant ideology in a given social formation. Only when literature becomes aware of its radical historicity does it put into crisis the dominant literary ideology and can begin to assume its true commitments.--Translation from back cover.
