Summary
Im künstlerischen Schaffen Sigmar Polkes (*1941 Oels, Niederschlesien, ?2010 Köln) nimmt das Editionswerk einen besonderen Stellenwert ein. Editionen boten ihm eine zusätzliche Möglichkeit, intensive und exzessive Variationen sowie Erweiterungen seiner Experimente in Form einer endlosen Auseinandersetzung mit sich und der Welt zu erschaffen. Wie ein Alchimist erwartete er, dass unterschiedliche Techniken seinem kreativen Ich dienten, sodass Editionswerke als Objekte, Bücher, Mappen, Fotografien, Fotokopien, Collagen und zahlreiche Drucke entstanden sind.
