Summary
Veteran stage director Harold Prince delivers a lecture on musical theater, drawing upon examples from his career. He discusses the development of the genre in the period following the Second World War, the impact of the anti-Communist witch hunt on Broadway, changes in popular culture since those years, the impact of higher ticket prices on the content of shows, and some of the differences between Broadway musicals and those produced on the West End. He also takes questions from the audience. Among those who pose questions are composer Stephen Oliver, lyricist Don Black, actor Jason Isaacs, and South Bank producer Tony Cash.
