- Summary
- Body Blend Trade Culture is a project of Debora Delmar Corp. that considers coffee as a product of global consumption, as a commodity that is part of everyday culture as well as its associations with the history of art. On the last, the obligatory reference are some works of cubism, such as collages, in which cups of coffee appear or allusion is made to the spaces of socialization around this drink. This historical connection resonates with previous works of Debora Delmar Corp. where the production strategy has been, in general, the assembly of goods. Most of the products used in these pieces, however, are objects of global consumption that, like coffee, could be found practically anywhere in the world and that, for this reason, they are designed in order to Be attractive to as many people as possible. Having coffee as a starting point, in Body Blend Trade Culture these consumer objects are used to articulate assemblages that can suggest from the tropical geography of the planet dedicated to the production of this grain (known as "the coffee belt") to the visual and consumer culture that has been created around drinking during this time of accelerated commercial globalization (one can think, for example, of the model of work space, consumption and socialization imposed since the creation of Starbucks). Plastically, coffee has been used to dye clothes and fabrics. In the same way, its color determines the chromatic palette of the project.
