- The Brown family's original name was Bruhn and it originated in Sweden. Erland Bruhn (1810-1860) was born in Sweden and married Stina Cajsa Nilsdotter (1822-1895). They immigrated to America and settled in Kansas and were the parents of seven children. Descendants live in Kansas and other parts of the United States.
