- Summary
- Files from Targ Editions for Henry Roth and the first two volumes of his fiction tetralogy, Mercy of a Rude Stream, respectively titled A Star Shines Over Mt. Morris Park and A Diving Rock on the Hudson; with excerpt from his 1979 memoir, Nature’s First Green.
- Contains over 500 pages of typescript drafts, including a corrected typescript and proofs of portions of Nature’s First Green ; an annotated typescript of A Star Shines, heavily emended and annotated by Roth ; and a typescript of A Diving Rock, with Roth’s typed corrections and occasional autograph marks.
- With over 50 typed letters, signed, and often-substantive postcards, signed, from Roth to William Targ, publisher of Targ Editions and Roth’s friend ; roughly 20 carbon copies of Targ’s letters to Roth ; and 20+ letters and postcards from Roth to Roslyn Targ, his literary agent.
