Summary
In December of 2008 the IPHAN of Brazil and the regional office of MERCOSUR of UNESCO (Rede Cultural MERCOSUL) got together to make a report about the "Itinerarios Culturales del MERCOSUR" and suggested the hiring of a specialized consultancy to establish the necessary guidelines for the enhancement of shared heritage in the region as a means of integration. In June 2011, the project on Cultural Itinerary of the Guarani Jesuit Missions was launched in Asunción, lead by architect Ramón Gutiérrez. The book comprises "the documents that were developed in the search for consensus with the other countries and the resolution of the MERCOSUR Heritage Declaration for the Guarani Jesuit Missions."
