Twenty nine programs (1897 - 1940) for The devil's disciple by Bernard Shaw documenting the play's earliest productions in New York and London, subsequent revivals, and regional and amateur productions in the United States. Includes performances by Richard Mansfield and Beatrice Cameron in a number of theatres in the first New York production; Murray Carson and Grace Warner (London); Matheson Lang and Wynne Mathison (London); productions by the Theatre Guild; the Birmingham Repertory Theatre; Princeton University's Theatre Intime featuring Joshua Logan; the Pasadena Playhouse starring Irving Pichel; the Newport Casino Theatre starring Basil Sydney, with stage management by Harold Clurman; the Federal Theatre Project (Denver Unit); and a 1941 production for The Selznick Company starring Janet Gaynor and Alan Marshal, directed by Cedric Hardwicke who also played General Burgoyne (Santa Barbara, Calif.).
