Summary
The followers of transhumanism (abbreviated H +) seek to transform man and overcoming physical and mental limits through the use of complex, accessible technologies. In his series 'H +' Matthieu Gafsou explores this worldwide philosophical movement and all sorts of Modifications and optimizations of the body: prostheses, exoskeletons, implants, neuroprosthetics, wearables, nootropics, nutritional supplements, anti-aging, biopolitics, body hacking, genetic engineering, cryonics. The Swiss photographer mixes documentary approaches with allegorical representations and shows that transhumanistic thinking has already found its way into our lives. 00Matthieu Gafsou (* 1981) studied Film Studies, History and Philosophy at the University of Lausanne. His works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and can be found in public and private collections, such as the Musée de l'Elysée, the Musée d'Art du Valais, the Mudac, the Fondation Hermès, the Fondation HSBC pour la photographie and The Michaelis School of Fine Art. His series 'Only God Can Judge Me' was published by Kehrer Verlag in 2014.
