Summary
Die Minimal Art ist mit Künstlern wie Donald Judd, Carl Andre oder Sol LeWitt, als eine der einflussreichsten Stilgattungen des 20. Jahrhunderts in das 'kulturelle Gedächtnis' eingegangen. Die Ausstellung 'Sexy and Cool. Minimal goes emotional' fragt nach dem Nachleben der Minimal Art in der Gegenwart. Von historischen postminimalistischen KünstlerInnen ausgehend, wurden 21 Gegenwartspositionen ausgewählt, die sich formal und konzeptuell auf die Ansätze der Minimal Art beziehen, ihre Werke jedoch um eine sensuell-körperliche, emotionale Ebene erweitern. Indem sie die elementaren Formen der Minimal Art auf außerkünstlerische Bereiche ausweiten und wieder mit der Welt verbinden, wird die historische Stilgattung für die Gegenwart aktualisiert.
