- Biography
- "Mark Strand's Collected Poems (Knopf) was published in 2014 He died the same year at the age of eighty. "The Babies" appeared in his book Reasons for Moving (Atheneum, 1968). As a student at Yale, Strand had been serious about painting before he became a poet. In his last decade he returned to art and made collages, lyric and abstract, showing a gift for color. Lori Bookstein Fine Art in Chelsea, New York, exhibited these in several one-man shows; the gallery continues to represent Strand's art."--Colophon."Liana Finck is a cartoonist and graphic novelist. Her work appears in the New Yorker; A Bintel Brief: Love and Longing in Old New York (Ecco/HarperCollins) appeared in 2014. She discovered Mark Strand's poetry in her parents' library as a teenager and remains a faithful reader of his work. "The Babies" is her first drawing of one of his poems. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York."--Colophon.
