- Summary
- The historical study of femininity and masculinity is a very important contribution to the construction of a critical history that will help us explain and better understand our current society and its aspirations for more effective gender equality. The VI International Seminar of AEIHM problematizes this approach and reflects on new ways of understanding and re-interpreting the already classical conceptual models of femininity throughout history, as well as the paradigms and conceptual terms coined in the last decades by the booming development of studies of masculinities. As a result, four major sections are offered in this book. The first revolves around the "non-normative Feminities and Masculinities", and counts on the contributions of Dolores Mirón (University of Granada) and Richard Cleminson (University of Leeds). The second deals with the question of "Identities of gender and social differences ", through the contributions of the medievalist Rafael Mérida Jiménez (University of Lleida) and the modernist Mónica Bolufer Peruga (Universitat de Valéncia). The third of these sections is devoted to "Feminities and masculinities in the processes of national construction" contemporaries, aspect that centers the works of Inmaculada Blasco (University of La Laguna) and Mary Vincent (University of Sheffield). Finally, the fourth and last one articulates a debate on the topic "Feminine-masculine, identities in relation", to which the chapters offered by Nerea Aresti Esteban (University of the Basque Country-EHU), Gloria Espigado (University of Cádiz) and Geoffroy Huard (Université du Havre).
