- Folies Parisienne (1940): "Folies Parisienne ... Fair Entertainment. Using a night club scene as background, a number of variety acts are introduced. Harry Stafford and the Notables Quartet entertain. Vyola Vonn sings and the Can-Can-Ette dance. The Sterner Sisters do a tap and acrobatic routine. Peppy and Peanuts, comedy dancers, present a satire on swing. Lafayette and LaVerne, apache dancers, and the Mercer Bros, complete the show; Leon Belasco is also seen in an amusing number. All in all, fair entertainment." (The film daily, April 18, 1940).
- Hawaiian rhythm (1940): "The pleasant rhythmic style of the native Hawaiian vocal and dance specialist is evidenced here as an extensive array of talent, both American and Hawaiian, performs in a So Sea setting. A highlight of the short is the rendition of a typical ... song by Rita Rio. Among the performers are Don and Sally Jennings, Stearns and Dean, the Royal Samoans, Harry Owens, Kenny Allen and 'The Royal Hawaiian Sweethearts.' This is an entertaining departure from the numerous swing musicals." (Motion picture daily, July 18, 1940).
- The naughty nineties (1940): "From start to finish this subject supplies entertainment that should revive pleasant memories of another day. The setting is a saloon, and everything from singing waiters to Can Can dancers are present to round out the presentation. Jan Duggan's singing is the high spot. The Reddingtons' trampoline act always have been a smash hit ... " (Boxoffice, July 6, 1940).
- Rhumba land (1939): "Latinized Musical. The bill of talent fare in this musical round, set in a Latin locale, may have some appeal to patrons below the Rio Grande or to the metropolitan night spot coteries of Hispanophiles, but to the general run of English speaking audiences the presentation will be not so entertaining or artistic. Outside of the picturesque and graceful toe work of Vivien Fay, the cast offers hardly stimulating screen stuff. Wini Shaw, in her efforts to be a sultry deep toned Latin, gives the impression she is from Manhattan. Then there is ... Tana by name, who bangs on a musical instrument and emits weird vocal cries. There are also a rhumba team, a group of singing gauchos, a dark eyed and plump Latin tenor and a native band." (Motion picture herald, January 6, 1940).
- Rhythm jamboree (1940): "Judy Starr sings; the Brown Sisters do a swing version of a Russian melody; the Tune-Smiths render their version of 'The Answer Is Rhythm.' Johnny O'Brien and his Harmonica Hi-Hats, tap-dancer Billy Burt, and dancers Colby and Arkin complete the bill." (The movies and the people who make them, 1940).
- Swing hotel (1939): "Pop Ork and Vaude Acts. A melange of swing music and vaudeville acts in this short should please the pop trade. Duke Daly and his orchestra provide the music. Short has a background of a hotel where all the employees put on their own show after the customers go to bed. Among the stage and screen names appearing are: Martha Mears, radio singer; John and Edna Torrance, dancers; The Murtah Sisters, comedy singers. Jerry Lester and Milton Charleston, comedians; The Three Rockets, rhythm dancers, and The Notables Quartet." (The film daily, October 19, 1939).
- Swing with Bing (1940): "This is a very cute little short which will be of interest to golf fans because of the glimpses of some of the game's biggest names in action, and to picture fans because of the tuneful warbling and merry antics of Bing Crosby as he is without benefit of grease paint and a script ... Arthur Q. Bryan, of the radio, playing a comedy role, a dub golfer, helps carry the audience through the maze of big names, assisted by a clever narration by Roger Keene ... Appearing, in the film ... photographed well by Al Wetzel, are Ty Cobb, Byron Nelson, Jimmy Thompson, Bud Ward, Walter Hagen, Clayton Heafner, Jimmy Demaret, Jug McSpaden, Lawson Little, Ed Oliver, Frank Rodia, Leo Deigel, Tony Penna, Scotty Chisolm, former golf champion, Henry McLemore, sports writer, and Richard Arlen, screen-star-golfer. An original song, 'The Little White Pill on the Little Green Hill,' by John Burke and James Monaco, as rendered twice by Bing in the picture, should become very popular. It's a natural Crosby number with lots of swing. The short was made at Crosby's Rancho Santa Fe course ... " (The film daily, April 3, 1940).
- Swingin' in the barn (1940): "With a barn for the story setting, a number of youthful and fast moving acts perform in this two-reeler. It is altogether entertainment of a sound nature and should please wherever the audience relishes the simpler forms of entertainment. The King Sisters sing; Texas Jim Lewis and his band supply the musical background; Maidie and Fay offer acrobatic dancing and the Hill Billyettes offer a dancing ensemble. It has hardly a dull moment." (Boxoffice, June 22, 1940).
