- Summary
- "Renjian Cihua is a masterpiece in literary criticism written by Wang Guowei, a famous master in the study of Chinese classics. It is also one of the most influential academic works in China from the late Qing Dynasty to the present. This masterpiece is written in elegant language. As its approach of interpretation retains the traditional Chinese imagery criticism that focuses on feeling and insight, it is hard for common readers to understand. This book contains two parts. The first part is the content of the lectures given by Florence Chia-ying Yeh. The author explains to readers with accessible, graceful and refined language the famous theory on "artistic conceptions" in Renjian Cihua, the difference between Shi and Ci, two genres of classical Chinese poetry, in aesthetic traits, and the Ci poems of famous Ci poets in various dynasties. The second part is the original text of Renjian Cihua"--
