- Summary
- Åke Axelsson, Jonas Bohlin and Mats Theselius are interior architects and furniture designers, and all three are elected members of the Royal Academy. They all possess extensive experience and knowledge as a result of their design work, which has received national as well as international acclaim. The doyen, Åke Axelsson, has been named professor by the government, while Jonas Bohlin and Mats Theselius have been professors of interior architecture and furniture design at Konstfack (the University of Arts, Crafts and Design) and at HDK - the Academy of Design and Crafts at the University of Gothenburg. "The common theme is the interplay between space, interior design and furniture. The work of an interior architect requires a holistic talent. Light, materials, colours, patterns, textures, how we move in and take possession of the spaces all affect us as occupants of them, as do our encounters with the furniture there. There are spaces that exude harmony, that are democratic, that stimulate our senses and that become lifelong memories. Unfortunately there are also spaces which are the opposite of these things. Professional interior architecture is currently a neglected field. This exhibition wants to demonstrate the importance that it holds. A series of talks and discussions will explore different aspects of this subject in greater depth." Exhibition: Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Stockholm, Sweden (03.02.-11.03.2018).
