- Summary
- With the Spanish Conquest, European art arrived in these lands. Among its manifestations, paintings, reliefs and sculptures were counted in a very marked way. Very soon in New Spain, talents began to emerge that added to those that arrived from the metropolis. Artists from both sides of the Ocean applied themselves to the production of beautiful works, especially of religious themes, as the society of that time demanded. The presence of the natives in such artistic manifestations was not long in coming and since the sixteenth century was evident in a large number of works. Reflejos de americanidad is a book that seeks to show readers how the natives of these regions are present in the plastic production of the three centuries of the viceroyalty. It is a contribution to the studies of the art of New Spain that wants to contribute to the dissemination of those works in which the natives were shown, including them in various ways in the future of New Spain.
