Note
  • Compiled by The Billy Rose Theatre Division, The New York Public Library.
  • Two reviews of Songs of Lear by Song of the Goat Theater in Wroclaw, Poland, directed by Grzegorz Bral. With relatively little spoken language, songs are the major substance of Songs of Lear. This is not so much an adaptation of King Lear, as a musical inspired by it with Cordelia as the leading character. Reviewed Sept. 30, 2016, when it was produced in the 250-seat theater Fishman Space in the BAM Fisher building, 321 Ashland Place, Brooklyn, N.Y. The untranslated songs, some resembling Gregorian chants, by Jean-Claude Acquviva and Maciej Rychly are sung in Polish and Latin.
  • Reviewed by Elisabeth Vincentelli in The New York Times and by Laura Kolb for Theatre Is Easy (www.THEASY.com)
