Summary
The catalogue that accompanies the exhibition of the same name also refers to a painting by Pedro Figari (Uruguay 1861-1938), a great representative of Latin American modernity. It is the largest exhibition organized on the artist's work in more than three decades, which presents an unprecedented body of his work. With a focus on Afro-Uruguayan representations, this catalog reproduces the 63 works from public and private collections in Uruguay and Brazil exhibited. Includes critical texts by the two curators of the show - Mariana Leme and Pablo Thiago Rocca -, unpublished essays by Jean-Arsène Yao, Olga Picún, Patricia M. Artundo and Yamandú Acosta, and a biographical note by Camila B. Ruskowski.
