Note
  • "First Flights" is a musical portrait of the events that took place when Orville and Wilbur Wright finally "slipped the surly bonds of earth" and took to the sky. The three-movement work ("Morning's cold", "The Kitty Hawk flyer", and "Success four flights") was commissioned in 1999 by the University of Georgia Band to celebrate the 100th anniversary of powered flight.
