Summary
Pietro Spada emigrated in 1937 to Buenos Aires, Argentina; in 1953 he studied drawing and painting at the Manuel Belgrano School of Fine Arts. In 1957 he settled in Montevideo, where he continues his studies in art and maintains a fluid contact with Esteban Lisa. This exhibition is the first exhibition of the artist in Montevideo. Under the curatorship of Graziella Basso, a selection of his paintings and drawings are exhibited, as well as some manuscripts with his thought. Spada's works bring us closer to his pictorial world of synthesis and abstraction from his metaphysical vision of art, which connotes his great spirituality; For him, his works were a way to approach a spiritual elevation, in a way to be a better person. And so he composed, with the elemental: with lines, points, shapes, spots and colors; in the apparent simplicity that leads to the purely essential.
Catalog of an exhibition held at Museo Gurvich, Montevideo, Uruguay, August 3-September 6, 2018.
