- Summary
- A two-volume manuscript travel diary presented to the author's niece and traveling companion. The dedication dated from Camberwell [London, England] explains: "The following pages contain many particulars of our voyage from London to Hamburg, and our journey form thence to Berlin, and also our voyage back from Berlin by the DampfSchiff and finally our departure from Hamburg on board of the Salus Captain John Thompson to London." Each volume with a silhouette portrait frontispiece, one of Mr. Weguelin, one of Miss Weguelin. Additional wash illustrations include: a ship at sea, horses pulling a carriage through a forest, a street scene with dancers and horn players, a steamship on a river, a ship in choppy waters. Each volume with the armorial bookplate of William Andrew Weguelin. Contemporary diced calf, gilt spine titling and decoations, gilt rules and cover decorations.
