Summary
Catalog of the temporary exhibition of the same name in commemoration of the 250 years of the death of Francisco Jose de Caldas (Popayan, Colombia 1768-1816), before and after of his relationship with Alexander von Humboldt. The catalog comprises the 103 pieces present in the exhibition, including maps, books, botanical materials and instruments, which reveal the great discoveries he made in scientific research, through astronomical observation and where his knowledge of cartography is evident. It also highlights the services provided by the 'Sabio' (Wise) to the cause of Independence and the confluence of a civil and military geography of patriotic character. The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
