• "The images were printed by Lois Johnson on an offset press at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and silkscreened by her at the Janus Press in West Burke, Vermont, with the assistance of Stephanie Westnedge, who, with Audrey Holden, did the production. The papers include various Arches, Fabriano Miliani Ingres, and Torinoko with MacGregor-Vinzani abaca for the concertina and Elephant Hide for the cover. The book structure was designed by Claire Van Vliet who gratefully acknowledges The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The edition is nintey copies..."--Colophon.
• The architectural effect of the concertina evokes dark alleys on one side and the glitter and vitality that draw so many to the city on the other. The leaves are tall and narrow and shaped to form a skyline of tall buildings. The leaves are laminated white and black sheets of Rives and Arches papers with blue glittery moiré Rowlux. The concertina is specially made gray abaca paper by MacGregor-Vinzani. Making the concertina non-adhesive gave its shapes a graceless character appropriate to the text.--Taken from Woven and interlocking book structures, by Van Vliet.
