- Summary
- Since 2007, the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of the Republic began to develop a Cycle of Itinerant Exhibitions on the work of prominent Uruguayan architects. The eighth in the series was dedicated to architect Carlos Surraco (b.1894-d. 1978, Montevideo), through a review by the most representative work of the architectural firm. Architect Surraco is known for having designed one of the most important buildings in the country: the Hospital de Clínicas. Due to its size and complexity and the long construction process, the building determined the career of the architect. Surraco was also a designer of outstanding hospital buildings associated with engineer Luis Topolansky in one of the most prolific architectural firm in the 1920's in Uruguay.
