• Mit der legendären Ausstellung "Les Immatériaux" von F.-J. Lyotard und T. Chaput im Pariser Centre Pompidou wurde erstmals eine veränderte Rolle von Materialität sichtbar und erfahrbar. Wo stehen wir heute, 30 Jahre danach? Die Beiträge des Bandes thematisieren verschiedenste Formen von Materialität, darunter die Materialität der Produktion oder das Verhältnis von Produktion und Materialität. Dabei sind jenseits von Kunst, Film und Literatur auch der Körper, Rituale und Denkfiguren sowie das Prozesshafte in historischen Epochen Gegenstand der Beiträge. Die Autorinnen und Autoren des Bandes zeigen, dass man von einer longue durée, einer langen Lebensdauer von "Materialität" ausgehen kann, die bislang in der westlichen Wissenschaftstheorie nur am Rande der dominanten Diskurse Beachtung gefunden hat.
• The changing role of materiality first became apparent and perceptible through F.-J. Lyotard and T. Chaput's legendary exhibition Les Immatériaux at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Where are we today, 30 years later? The essays in this volume thematize the most diverse forms of materiality, including the materiality of production or the relationship between production and materiality. Beyond art, film and literature, the essays also focus on the body, rituals and thought patterns as well as the processual in historical epochs. The authors of this volume show that we can anticipate a longue durée, a long life of service of "materiality," which thus far has only been given peripheral attention in the Western philosophy of science's dominant discourses.
