- Summary
- Unmarked screenplay, undated. This fictitious film is based on the taking hostage of 11 Israeli athletes by a Palestinian terrorist group at the 1972 Munich Olympics and murdering them. Historical figures such as Golda Meir are characters, and there was an effort to recreate the event and its aftermath with historical accuracy that was not entirely successful. Produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, the film was released by Sony Pictures Studio Dec. 23, 2005. It received the Academy Award for best adapted screenplay.
