Summary
A brief survey of the art and history of Christianity in northern Ethiopia, beginning with the founding myth of the Solomonic dynasty: the story of the Queen of Sheba and her son Menelik. Using photos and documentary footage, the film reviews the culture of Ancient Axum, architecture under the 13th century Zagwe king Lalibela, the development of Ethiopian Christian painting and manuscript illumination through the Gondar era, and concludes with the crowning of Emperor Haile Selassie in 1930.
