"In 2016, the Verbier 3-D Foundation launched a 4-year initiative that links art, education and glacier conservation. The Glacier Project unites artists and scientists to chronicle the impact of global warming on glaciers in Valais, Switzerland [...] Chloe Dewe Matthews was invited to launch this project and create a body of work inspired by the "Year without Summer" [...] Through a process of careful investigation she produced a series of photographs entitled In Search of Frankenstein, which explore both the specific implications of this climactic event on the surrounding area and its broader significance within society today. The photographic series she developed raises questions that remain at the heart of contemporary concerns: the ethics of science, climate change, industrialization and the modern sublime." -- page 191.
