• The senses of distortion explores crucial moments of the artistic production of the Latin American twentieth century from the logic of instability that defines the baroque of the seventeenth century. From the vertiginous perspectivism of Cervantes and the exasperated puns of Quevedo to the plastic universes of Borges and Xul Solar, or from the perverse syntax of Gongora to the self-flagellar metamorphoses of Severo Sarduy or Ana Mendieta, Baler departs from the familiar notions of excess and transculturation and rehearses an epistemological evaluation of the historical impact of the Latin American neo-baroque in the general context of modernity.
