• "During the civil war, theater censorship was widely practiced on both sides, even with its different modulations and biases. This aspect of the dramatic literature produced during the war, little explored until now in the specialized bibliography, finds in this book a treatment that reflects on the relationship between culture and government institutions with decision-making capacity. In this sense, the work has a historical meaning that transcends the literature itself: what the authorities of one sign or another considered necessary to censor is revealing of the political circumstances and the moral climate of a given historical moment. The book is completed with two appendices. The first brings together the most relevant legislation of the period, and the second contains texts from two of the works analyzed in the body of the work: a selection of fragments from Los salvadores de Españna, by Rafael Alberti, and the complete version of Bajo alas de Imperio, by Ángel del Castillo López." --Google Translate.

En este sentido, la obra tiene un significado histórico que trasciende a la propia literatura: lo que las autoridades de uno u otro signo consideraron que era necesario censurar es revelador de las circunstancias políticas y del clima moral de un determinado momento histórico. El libro se completa con dos apéndices. El primero reúne la legislación más relevante del periodo, y el segundo contiene textos de dos de las obras analizadas en el cuerpo de la obra: una selección de fragmentos de Los salvadores de Españna, de Rafael Alberti, y la versión completa de Bajo alas de Imperio, de Ángel del Castillo López.
