- Two reviews of 217 Boxes of Dr. Henry Anonymous by Ain Gordon. This play dramatizes the life of psychiatrist Dr. James Fryer, who wore a rubber mask in 1972 to announce to the American Psychiatric Association that he was homosexual. A year later the organization declared homosexuality a mental disorder. The play gets its title from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania's acquisition of 217 boxes of Dr. Fryer's notes, letters, and diaries of his own and of gay patients who came to him for help when they were in trouble with the law. Three "ghosts" from the collection speak 25-minute monologues. Reviewed May 8, 2015, when it was produced at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, 450 West 37th Street, New York, N.Y.
- Reviewed by Jesse Green in The New York Times and by Naveen Kumer for gaygull.com.
