Summary
Banking executive and presidential appointee J. Veronica Biggins was born on October 19, 1946 in Belmont, North Carolina. Biggins received her B.S. degree from Spelman College and her M.A. degree from Georgia State University. For twenty years, Biggins worked for Bank of America, where she became one of the highest-ranking women in the banking industry. In 1994, she joined the staff of President William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton as director of personnel and served as vice chairman of the United States Delegation to the United Nations' Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China. Biggins served on the boards of Southwest Airlines, AirTran Airways, Avnet, Inc., the Woodruff Arts Center and the Atlanta Life Insurance Company; and as chair of the Czech Slovak American Enterprise Fund. She later worked as a senior partner at Heidrick & Struggles, an international executive consulting firm, and as managing partner of Diversified Search in Atlanta, Georgia.
