- Architect Charles McAfee was born on December 25, 1932 in Los Angeles, California. McAfee received his B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska. Since beginning his career in the 1960s, McAfee worked on countless architectural and planning projects. Many have received national recognition. He established Charles F. McAfee Architects and Planners, with offices located in Wichita, Atlanta, Dallas and Oklahoma City. McAfee's firm consulted on the design and construction of facilities for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Other projects included institutional and religious facilities, transportation and housing structures, museums, sports and recreation facilities, and commercial structures. McAfee received countless awards and distinctions including the American Institute of Architects Kansas Chapter Excellence in Architecture Award and the Federal Housing Administration's First Honor Award. He served on numerous professional and civic boards of directors, including the National Business League. He was active in countless professional and service organizations, providing mentorship to minority architects and planners.
