- Business executive and journalist Paula Williams Madison was born on August 24, 1952 in Harlem, New York. She graduated from Vassar College with her B.A. degree in 1974. In 1989, Madison was assistant news director at NBC4 in New York City becoming the station's vice president and news director in 1996. Shortly after, she worked a second role as NBC's senior vice president for diversity. In 2000, she was promoted to president and general manager of KNBC in Los Angeles, making her the first African American woman to run a network-owned station in a top-five market. In 2007, she was executive vice president and chief diversity officer. Madison was a partner in Williams Group Holdings LLC, her family's investment company which owns the Los Angeles Sparks WNBA basketball team where she was CEO. Madison received the Ida B. Wells award from the NABJ and was named to Ebony Magazine's Power 100 List.
