Summary
Fashion designer Steven Cutting was born on June 8, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York. He earned his B.F.A. degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1983, and went to work on Seventh Avenue before moving to Europe. In 1985, he returned to the United States, where he became head designer for Philippe Monet. In 1990, he established his own freelance company, Steven A. Cutting, Inc. Cutting worked at his own company until 1996, when he was named head designer for Perry Ellis America. He worked with Jimmy and Marylou, Whet Blue Collections, Larry Levine, Boston Outfitters, and the House of Dereon. Cutting joined the Faculty of the Fashion Institute of Technology in the fashion design art department in 2001. From 2003 to 2005, he served as president of the Fashion & Arts Xchange. In 2006, he established Katalyst. The first Katalyst line was released in the fall of 2008.
