- Television producer and public relations director Linda Torrence was born on November 23, 1944, in College Station, Arkansas, one of ten children of Mary Artia Jackson and Samuel Hudson, Little Rock's first Black police officer. Torrence majored in business administration at Arkansas Baptist and political science at the University of Arkansas. Hosting her first television talk show at ABC-TV in Little Rock, she was WAGA-TV's liaison to the Atlanta community, producing The Georgia Gang, a weekly talk show and directing the production of FOX5 Editorials. The first Black teller at the First National Bank in Little Rock, she was the first African American woman to represent Arkansas at the 1972 Democratic Convention. Recognized in Atlanta Business League as one of the most influential African American Women in Atlanta, she received numerous awards and citations. She was honored by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for her role in the development of the America's Youth Passport.
