- Corporate executive Lloyd G. Trotter was born April 9, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended high school in Cleveland, and entered an apprenticeship program with Cleveland Twist Drill after graduation. Trotter took night classes at Cleveland State University and earned his B.A. degree in business administration in 1972. Trotter joined General Electric as a field service engineer in 1970, and was steadily promoted over the next thirty-eight years. In 1990, he helped found the GE African American Forum, a mentorship group for black GE employees. While at GE, he also invented the Trotter Matrix for evaluating standards across various plants, which was quickly adopted throughout the company. In 2003, Trotter became senior vice president of GE, and was promoted to vice chairman of GE three years later. In 2008, Trotter left GE to help found the private equity firm, GenNx360 Capital Partners.
